Have we ever considered the whale?

In the lecture performance Past, Present, Present, Past which was originally premiered at steirischer herbst in 2019, the artist compares the story of Jonah and The Whale with the repression often found in Austrian culture. At the same time, this work includes stories about Franz Kafka and Ingeborg Bachmann, fast food restaurants and the Bauhaus, adaptation and guilt. Gernot Wieland has added new stories for the performance at argos, especially about shame and the idea of waking up in a sea of mud and having to move around in it for the rest of your life.

The performance (ca. 30min) will be followed by a Q&A with the artist after which you're invited to join us for a drink at the bar. The films of the exhibition will be paused during the event and turned back on from 18:00 to 19:00.

Entrance: pay what you can (suggested donation: 8€)
