argos collection selects is a program of ongoing film screenings inspired by the Magical Realism exhibition. Selected from our collection of nearly 6000 artist films, it provides a new perspective on the exhibition's themes.

Programme 1: Sites of Impact (40’)

The relationship between humans and nature is changing – and it’s leaving marks, on the land and in our minds.

Lukas Marxt, Reign of Silence (2013)

A motorboat, obeying signals sent by radio, forms a spiral on the water surface until it all ends as it began.

Paulius Sliaupa, The monk (2021)

A snowy landscape sublimates an alienating disconnection to nature.

Emmanuel Van der Auwera, White Cloud (2024)

Digital, ethical and environmental transformations come together on the assembly line of our digital world.

Programme 2: Shine a Light (43’)

Three films shed new light on their surroundings. Some relationships are underexposed, while others are overexposed, causing the perspectives to constantly shift.

Meggy Rustamova, Light Displacement (2018)

In the shadow of a Japanese tree, innocent flashes suddenly transform into military weapons.

Edith Dekyndt, 3 minutes of darkness (2003)

Can you really see the Great Wall of China from space?

Félix Blume, Luces del Desierto (2021)

In the Mexican desert, the night isn’t as dark as it seems.
