Manuela

Manuela Trasobares (1962) lives in the area of Castelló. She is one of the first transsexuals in Spain and has already been the subject of many scandals. She is shown sculpturing a crucified Christ, whose nudity caused widespread outrage. With a brush, Angel Vergara delineates her cinematic image, and that of the sculpture. For the exhibition, Vergara had planned to give a performance with her. The people of Castelló however, opposed it, and eventually the performance could not take place. The dispute occurred in 2007, just before the national elections.
