A series of twelve of the artist’s paintings flashes by at top speed, forming just over two seconds of images – the titles of the work last longer than the work itself, which thus becomes humorous. Vergara’s paintings in dark, sombre colours give an impression of urgency: lifted from rather rudimentary brush sweeps, they show a series of women, incorporating a cup of coffee as a recurring element. The incredibly fast montage emphasises the sharpness of the painting style. The title refers to a painting by Antoine Wiertz from 1847.
