In a few seconds Vergara filmed seven paintings of a tree, a technique he also applies in ’La belle Rosine. Peinture en 1 acte et 12 tableaux’ and ’Palais d’Egmont. Peinture en 1 acte et 12 tableaux’. The images in black gouache are schematic and rough, painted in coarse brush sweeps. Again Vergara worked with a high-speed montage, applied here to such an extent that the introduction and the credit titles of this work last longer than the actual shots of the tree – respectively eight seconds and two seconds – which creates a comical effect.
