Vergara filmed this piece in looking eastward over Ghent. On the edge of the Book Tower’s terrace lies an open catalogue of Chambres d’Amis, an exhibition held in Ghent in 1986. With a brush in his hand he traces the images with gestures that suggest he is painting. By periodically moving his brush towards the book when it comes on the screen, Vergara suggests that the art in the book embodies the pallet with which he himself is ’painting’ Ghent more than ten years later.
