Girl with a Fly

Girl with a fly is an entirely silent video loop, which source of inspiration is a sound recording of a fly in a church, a sound file that Sarah Vanagt found on the Internet.

In Girl with a fly, a young girl enters a church and opens a matchbox: a fly flies up from the little box into the image-loaded space. The girl then starts to record the sound of the fly. Perhaps this girl-with-a-tape-recorder is in search of “fossil sounds”, inscribed or hidden in and behind the walls of the buildings and spaces she enters.
