ERIC ET L'OISEAU BLEU

Eric and his friends from l’Oiseau Bleu, an institution for handicapped children, can’t talk. They look around them, they touch, they caress, they breath. This report for Canal Emploi starts off with a long shot of Eric asleep. Images of his life within the institution, his friends, visits to the supermarket or the swimming pool, scroll one after the other, just as he sleeps. The lullaby-likeness of the music and the omnipresence of colour blue accentuate the feeling of a dream. For Marc-Emmanuel Melon this is probably the most beautiful shot ever taken by Riga’s camera, who contemplates the child sleep just as a mother would. A shot which gently regards without touching. A caress-shot.
