AMAZING GRACE

Colinet deals in his work with subjects and people that can be related to his own environment. In essence this video deals with man in general and the artists in particular, a fascination that exceeds space and time. What is the essence, meaning, motive and motivation of the artistic calling, what about the longing for recognition and communication and the research for love? In order to get some answers, we see a conversation with a seventy-year old woman painter, the solitary death of the artist, and there are references to Henri Storck, Marcel Broodthaers and Jan Cox, and musical interventions by J.S. Bach, Ch. Mingus, Ch. Parker and G. Mahler. As to the form: Colinet is an adherent of the mounting theories of Eisenstein, concepts like Global image, Leitmotivs, metre, rythmics, polyphony, … remain current even in the new media. Colinet considers himself a cinematic poet who has a strongly developed tendency towards the mystical and the visionary.
