ORATORIUM FOR ONE PREPARED VIDEO PLAYER AND EIGHT MONITORS

The video player is positioned in the middle of the room. The magnetic tape rolls out of the player as a big loop which travels over several supports around the player. Surrounding this is a second circle of monitors on pedestals facing the centre of the player and the video loop. The sound on the magnetic tape is that of a male choir singing the famous football song ’You’ll never walk alone’ in four parts. On the monitors you can see a close-up of one of the singers. Through the proliferation of his image on the other monitors, it seems that the entire male choir is cheering for the magnetic tape.
