LES SOEURS LUMIÈRE

A digital short with primitive cinema looks about guardian angels, UFO’s, the lighting of the Belgian motorways and an un-erasable penfriendship. Coming out of the fascination by astronomy, close encounters of the third kind and the brightly lit highways of Belgium (you can even see them from outer space!), ‘Les Soeurs Lumière’ has scripted a fable about light and its mysteries. The title also suggests a homage to 2 of the founders of moving images. Two friends, Stella (astronomer) and Lucia (a salesgirl in a lamp shop), who know each other only through their correspondence, are separated by death. Lucia, the surviving friend drives off at night, heading for Belgium of the twinkling motorways, searching for her friend’s angel which should have become Lucia’s guardian angel. With an empty heart, she drives, accompanied by strange light phenomena around her (UFO’s? angels?) to find a light and enlightment of her loss.
