DOM SVOBODE

For this medium long video the Slovenian choreographer Iztok Kovac worked together closely with the artist Sašo Podgoršek. The title refers to artistic freedom, to an openness that helps to escape the everyday and banal. In the first scenes we see of group of seven performers dancing amidst a rock formation. But the dancers do not stand with their feet on the ground: they hang horizontally from a cliff. As they jump, they seem to be floating. In later sequences we see the same and other actors in other dance productions by Kovac, filmed in public spaces, at industrial sites and in the theatre. Podgoršek shows fragments of performances as such, but also the organization a performance involves, the meetings in which the actors participate and the town around them.
