INTERNATIONALE FILMFESTSPIELE BERLIN - BERLINALE 2016

DISTRIBUTION - SCREENING

On the occasion of the Berlinale 2016, Shelly Silver will premiere her new piece ‘THE LAMPS’.

The piece details the trip to the Naples Archeological Museum in early 1900 of the Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven né Plotz, an unsung member of the Dada Movement. The Baroness was a poet, artist, vaudeville performer, runaway, rabble rouser, crossdresser, and all around public provocateur. As with many women artists throughout history, her cultural legacy has been obscured and in some instances appropriated into the oeuvres of better known male peers. In the museum, the baroness breaks into 'Il Gabinetto Segretto,' a secret room filled with erotic objects from Pompeii.

'THE LAMPS' was made for the collaborative epic exquisite corpse, The Filmballad of Mamadada, by Cassandra Guan, Lily Benson and 52 other contributors.
