THE INTERNATIONAL DANCEFILMFESTIVAL BRUSSELS ANNOUNCES ITS PROGRAM!


For this edition the festival continues its initiative to create a Platform for filmmakers, choreographers, programmers and public with an international allure. The festival gives you a wide view of what has been done in the past, what is happening in the present and might be the future of dance films in Belgium and abroad.
 
We offer you a program spread over several days in partnership with other organisations and presented in 4 Brussels’ venues.
 
3 October: the Opening of the festival at Argos / 20.00
The artistic directors of our festival Stefanie Bodien and Wolfgang Kolb introduce the 7th edition of the international Dancefilmfestival Brussels and invite you for a drink.
 
4 October: the 2nd Day we present the documentary Mr GAGA at Aventure Cinema / 20.00 in partnership with the Brussels Jewish Film Festival. It shows the work-process of Ohad Naharin and the Batsheva dance-company in Israel. For this occasion we organise GAGA-workshops with Chen Wei Lee the 30th of September and masterclasses with Yaara Dolev from 1- 4 & 8 -12 october at Danscentrumjette.
 
5 October: the Historical Part of the festival, at Cinematek/ 17.00 - 19.00 - 21.00.
This year we focus on Italian dance films.
Over 300 dance films has been viewed from archives in different Italian cities.  Stefanie Bodien and Wolfgang Kolb decided to focus on the period 1980 until 2000 and present you 3 sessions with 14 different Italian dance films.
 
6 October: the Recent Part, at Danscentrumjette 14.00- 16.00- 18.00- 20.30.
This year the jury has gathered and made the selection out of the nearly 200 recent dancefilms submitted. The jury is composed of the artistic directors of the festival and two external members : Rudi Maerten and Rolf Quaghebeur.
 
Four different sessions of recent international dance films are on the program.

IDFF-Meeting Point during the four days is Danscentrumjette, where you can meet the filmmakers and organizers, find the festival-brochure, and take a workshop or lunch.
