description
‘Risible Chick’ is an indie paean to urban frenetism made on no budget and city savvy. Choreographer Leslie Lindsay’s raucous in-our-face dance attack was first performed live at Toronto’s Dances for the Small Stage Rivoli Night Club series where it immediately became a critical and popular sensation. The movement references are ironic samplings of pop culture, modern dance technique and ironic dance styles. Director Nick de Pencier decided to marry it with an equally terrorising photography. Subways, alleys, video arcades, and others form a jump-cut backdrop to the dance, as a leap taken on stage might land at the corner of King and Baby in rush hour.
