BORIS CHOUVELLON

Boris Chouvellon is above all a great observer. He explores the borders of urban space and everything in its periphery—the territorial, social and human aspects. On foot, by car or train Chouvellon roams border regions (ringroads, motor ways, coastal areas, rivers). He tries to create an image of the ruins of modernity, which may include agricultural areas, industrial or commercial zones or abandoned and forgotten building sites. Chouvellon documents, photographs, registers and films all these conditions of the modern world. His work method consists of taking objects, forms or impressions from the real world, which he then transforms in his studio. By assigning fragments of the world a place in an imaginary, dreamlike dimension, he brings about shifts and disconnections, but at the same time he also exposes the state of affairs.
